The gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the most powerful force in the world. It’s a message of hope, help and salvation. With it a life of sin is removed and without it destruction and ruin await. Paul said, in Romans 1:16 that “The gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes.” The activating force of the gospel is faith and faith is the only element that we know that pleases God. For without faith it is impossible to please Him. I think as we grow older in Christ we tend to make the gospel a little more complicated. We get into types and shadows and lose the elementary power of the gospel. The gospel is the activating power of our walk with God without it we are powerless. So it must be our center piece and everything else in life orbits around it. Paul said, “It is power to everyone that believes.” The word belief means more than intellectual assent. It means a handing over of one’s self, a trust or personal commitment. The gospel is more than a book; it is more than words on a page. It is an experience that can . . . Change an alcoholic into a witness for Christ. This gospel can take a broken home and put it back together. There is nothing our gospel can’t do. So lets keep it simple, Jesus died, he was buried and rose again the third day. Our response is Repent of all our sins, and be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of those sins and then receive the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Let’s go spread the good news.
Just Keeping it Simple,
Pastor Ron
